As artists, craftspeople, and individuals, we long to communicate and share our passions and inspirations about the world around us. Through Carbonature and Humanature, we hope to grow your capacity to inspire others about the environment, our ancestors, and our future together as one with nature.
We invite you to collaborate with us to stimulate others. It's about all of our Carbonature connecting us in nature's spirit.
Many ancient cultures were deeply in tune with their environment. They developed creation myths, sacred rituals, and traditions to define their world and their place within it. Myths form beliefs that express their identity and relationship with their environment.
People need and create iconic symbols that convey passion, love, hope, and spirit. The growth of myths and community also gives rise to legends, born from stories passed down through generations or from the portrayal of people or symbols that become cultural landmarks or icons.
The images below are from a collection called 'Rising from the Ashes' in Northcliffe's Understory Park in the Southwest of Western Australia.
A massive forest fire threatened the small town and this collection of 50 locals became a community celebration of healing, working together and survival after the fire.
Humanity needs icons that describe our passion, love, hope, and spirit to feed the human soul. Our goal is to inspire others to feel a closer connection to nature as it reflects our true essence. Positive discoveries must be shared to help individuals grow, mature, and be enriched by others.
When people see an amazing piece of art the first thing many say is "I can't do that". Rest assured you can do this, it's a procedure rather than a talent.
If you are involved in community development programs the style has a potential to bring people together. Celebrate community unity in a three or 'Tree' dimensional sculpture.
Our very first community face-casting workshop produced 25 masks in about 3 hours.
People with no previous experience were guided through the process and then started helping others.
Your new skills can be used to enhance a future in sculpture, as a craftsperson, in the classroom art teacher or individual seeking new paths, skills or hobbies.

Legends are created through historic connections and time passes rapidly. What ever legacy you leave now becomes a legend in the future like the kids who created this Totem.
If you are involved in community development programs the style has the potential to bring people and groups together, to celebrate community unity in a three or 'Tree' dimensional manner.
We can help you create a Community Arts Project, a School Totem Pole or Sculptural Installation, Healing Arts Programs, or Environmental Sculpture Park.
We can consult with you anywhere in the world to help you make it happen with live video conferencing. Your Community creates the Art & the Vision we share the Know-How.
The face casting session for each person is under 15 minutes, and filling the mask with charcoal takes no more than 5 minutes, so it is a fairly quick process.
The time it takes to place a face in a tree is approximately 15 minutes.
Finishing each face is done once the glue has cured which normally takes about 10 minutes.
The total time from beginning the face mould to a final finished placement in a tree or wherever you choose is about 45 minutes.
If the participants are eager to be part of the face-mounting process this can be a very productive and creative act.
The cost to produce 1 face cast in Charcoal is about 3 dollars (AUS) depending on the quality of materials.
For Carbonature accredited tutors the profit margin is determined by the outcome. In most school based scenarios individuals are charged $20.00 which would include installation into a tree or wall. This is a very affordable cost yet can be increased by the instructor, it's your business.
