Welcome to the Carbonature Classroom - Empowering Education through Nature-Inspired Learning. Carbonature aims to focus on carbon and help to demystify this immense field of study. We love the expression "Keep it Simple," so we strive to avoid unnecessary complexity.
By concentrating on carbon, we address the root causes of many environmental problems. This approach underscores the significance of carbon in environmental science, highlighting its role in various ecological and climatic processes, such as greenhouse gas emissions and climate change. Considering individual carbon footprints, providing a solid basis for further exploration and education on these topics.
Please follow these basic rules and only proceed if a competent adult is present.
Important: A few rules to follow when making Face or Body Molds including Carbonature Sculptures.
Charcoal can be harmful to your health, always wear appropriate Dust Masks when using it including collection or mixing Charcoal with glue.
Only use 'PLaster Gauze Bandages' (preferably medical grade) for mold making on Human Skin, never use 'Casting Plaster' directly on skin as it may burn the skin when setting up.
Please use a mold release agent similar to Vaseline or a skin safe barrier alternative so plaster can not stick to the skin, avoid any plaster coming in contact with hair.
Never block your model's access to breathing through their airways their nose!
Remember: The person you are taking a mold from is more important than the mold itself. Their comfort and safety should never be compromised.
The sculptural techniques we use produce affordable, creative programs for schools or communities.
- Children as young as 10 years old can easily gain new skills with great results creating a legacy.
- Gaining the attention or interest of boys in art lessons is not easy. We have found they love making plaster molds of their classmates.
- Carbonature projects provide a unifying or healing potential that brings people and communities together.
- We have conducted community face-casting sessions introducing the techniques to facilitators and within 30 minutes they are instructing or guiding others.
We teach children how to make Carbonature face replicas in about 20 minutes. We can teach You too.
Using charcoal to create weather and UV resistant sculptures is a low cost and easy process.
Any material can be cast into a face or body mold be it natural, plastic, sand, gravel etc. as long as it is of an appropriate size or granular.
